Exquisite Corpse

Inspired by the surrealists of the 1920s, this work collages a series of figure drawings of my partner and me. Through the combination of our bodies, and the entanglement of our internal organs I’m reflecting on my personal history with codependency and the societal normalisation of codependent relationships.

Oasis

This two part series looks at swimming class from the perspective of a queer teenager. The scenes walk the line between romantic and perverted, examining the sense of intrusion experienced by existing in queer spaces as a gay youth.

Eve's Defense

This sculptural work uses pages from the bible as a found object, specifically pages discussing and shaming women. An embroidered snake runs across the bible pages, embodying satan in the garden of Eden, beside this Eve is presented at the moment she first becomes ashamed in her nudity, as Adam covers her.

City Tracks

Growing up in the countryside, on the borders of London, I have watched the city slowly expand across the natural landscapes surrounding me. This digital piece shows the train journey from Watford Junction, a town near my home, to London Euston, the centre of the city, to highlight this ever-growing transition from nature to cityscape.

Feed

Cookie cutter houses and apartments fill the streets of Vancouver. With this sculpture I hope to replicate the experience of walking through and living in these residential areas that are filled with identical houses and never ending construction.

Scene of the Crime

This piece looks at the experience of sexual assault. The figure, cut out from the scene, looks at the way the mind detaches from the body during such a traumatic event. The shower curtain is painted with tie dye, to replicate skin cells. The fabric can be pulled over the figure, entrapping them with their physical body.

The City of Woe

The Beginner's Bible - Altered Book

Inspired by Dante Alighieri’s depiction of hell in The Divine Comedy, this graphic novel follows a dust particle through a train carriage, highlighting sin in a capitalistic light.

Using “The Beginner’s Bible: Timless Children’s Stories” by Zondervan, as a base; this altered book depicts my personal experience with religion and mental illness.

Eat Me

This work explores sex as both an object for pleasure and pain. The pomegranate is a symbol of both fertility and death, so here it represents the intimate body.
